Abortion and the Church

Abortion is one of the most controversial issues of our day. So it’s no surprise that members of the church aren’t unified when it comes to this issue. This week’s guests include members of the church who support differing sides of the abortion debate:

Pastor Patrick Hines is the Associate Pastor at Grace Bible Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, OH. He and his congregation support local pro-life women help centers, and advocate for the rights of unborn babies.

Reverend Anne Wrider is an Episcopal priest from Cincinnati, Ohio who believes that abortion is a woman’s right and choice. She doesn’t believe in telling her congregation what’s right or wrong. Instead, she looks to guide people in making ethical decisions for themselves using reason, tradition and scripture.

Father Jeff Kemper is a Catholic Priest at St. John in Harrison, OH. In his teachings and counseling, he emphasizes all life is a gift from God and we’ve been given the important task to protect it.

Reverend Terris Tyson is an Associate Pastor of the United Church of Christ and a member of the Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. She counsels women facing unexpected pregnancies and believes abortion should be one of the available considerations throughout pregnancy
