Redefining Beauty: Miss You Can Do It Pageant

Miss You Can Do It is a national non-profit beauty pageant for girls and young women with special needs and challenges. It was founded 10 years ago by Abbey Curran, Miss Iowa USA 2008. Abbey was born with cerebral palsy, a condition affecting her leg, mobility and stability. But she’s never let physical challenges limit her from achieving her dreams. She first became interested in pageants during her sophomore year of high school and never dreamed that she would one day be crowned Miss Iowa. Abby founded Miss You Can Do It because wanted other girls with disabilities to have the same experience and accomplishments she had. She hopes the pageant is helping people re-evaluate their ideas of beauty—both inside and out.
